Description:
T4 Polynucleotide Kinase , phosphatase (-) is derived from the E.coli bacteriophage T4 and expressed in E.coli. T4 Polynucleotide Kinase catalyzes the exchange of PO4 from the the γ-position of ATP to the 5' end of DNA and RNA as well as nucleoside 3' monophosphates. This phosphatase (-) T4 Polynucleotide Kinase has the amino acid at position 167 changed from Aspartic Acid (D) to alanine (A). This mutation abolishes the 3' phosphatase activity while retaining full kinase activity.
Protein Uses:

End-labeling of DNA and RNA for probes

Labeling of gaps in double-stranded substrates
Additional Information:

Nicks are not as efficiently phosphorylated
